నమస్కారం!

నేను నా కొడుకు కి చిన్నప్పటి నుంచి చెప్పుకున్న ఏడు చేపల కథ ఎవరో ఒకరు ప్రచురించే ఉంటారు అన్న గట్టి నమ్మకం తో వెతకని website లేదు, మా నాన్నగారు హైదరాబాద్ లో తిరగని షాపూ లేదు. ఈ కథ ఐతే దొరకలేదు కానీ, దొరికిన వేరే కథల పుస్తకాలు నేటి తరం పిల్లలకి సరిపోయేలా లేవు. ఇంకొక వైపు వారి ధ్యాస అంతా గొప్ప format లు, చక్కని color scheme లు వాడుతూ ఉన్న ఇంగ్లీష్ పుస్తకాల మీద ఉంది. అందులో పిల్లల తప్పు లేదు.

కాబట్టి ఇంక తప్పదని నేనే ఈ కథ ని ప్రచురించడానికి పూనుకున్నాను. August 15 న, ఈ పుస్తకం విడుదల అవుతుంది. 

ఈ పుస్తకం చదివిన ఒక్క చిన్నారి అయినా, రేపు తెలుగు అక్షరం కనిపించినప్పుడు గ్రహాంతరవాసుల లిపిని చూసినట్టు భయపడి పారిపోకుండా, చనువు తో ఇంకొక సారి ఆ అక్షరాల, పదాలు, వాటి లో ఉన్న భావాల వైపు తిరిగి చూసినా. లేకపోతే, తన లాగా కనిపించి, తన కుటుంబ సభ్యుల లాగా మాట్లాడేవారి లో కూడా గొప్ప కథలు, చరిత్రలు, కళలు ఉన్నాయి అనే విషయం వారి వ్యక్తిత్వం లో చిన్న చోటు చేసుకున్నా. అలా కాక మూలలు తెలుసుకోడానికి ఉన్న మాధ్యమం మాతృభాష, వారి గమనాన్ని గమ్యాన్ని తెలుసుకునేందుకు దోహద పడినా, మేము పడే ఈ శ్రమ కి ఫలితం దక్కినట్టే.

మీకు తెలిసిన చిన్న పిల్లలు ఉన్న కుటుంబాల్లో, ఇలా భాష, సంస్కృతి, పిల్లల మానసిక అభివృద్ధి, వారి గుర్తింపు గురించి పరితపించే కుటుంబ సభ్యులు ఒక్కరైనా ఉంటారు అని మా గట్టి నమ్మకం. వారిఈ పుస్తకాన్ని పంచుకోండి!

I thought someone must have published the story of The Seven Fish that I've been telling my son since he was little. Despite searching online and my father scouring Hyderabad's shops, we couldn't find the book. Other children's books we found don't resonate with today's kids, who are drawn to visually impressive English books – and who can blame them?

So, I decided to publish it myself, aiming for an August 15th release.

If even one child who reads this book stops seeing Telugu script as alien and instead views it with familiarity, exploring the words and their meaning, or if they grasp that their own community holds rich stories, history, and art, and this shapes their identity in some small way—if our mother tongue, the path to their roots, even subtly helps them find their way—then our efforts will be successful.
